An Elegy for Alexander “Blueberry” Wagenaar
By THLaird Colyne Stewart, January 2016 (AS 50)
We who remain on this day grieve
For one who felt he had to leave
For one whose memory we now weave
A man known for his laughter
A man well known hereafter.
A hero to the young, so smart,
For he himself was young at heart
For children always did his part
But now his seat is empty
His hat lain by a dead tree.
A fighter too, he faced the lists,
And trained with sabers in his fists
And grinned and laughed with every twist
But now his swords are broken
With so much left unspoken.
For dice and games he held great love
And strove to be the winner of
To get to free bright Nike’s dove
But now the cards are undealt
So many feelings unfelt.
We who remain may never know
Just why you felt you had to go
But in your memory we will grow
We now will smile for you
We who will truly miss you.
Thank you, Colyne.
